To those who bought tickets for the Charity Rugby match organised partly to raise funds for the renovation of the mortuary in South Tipperary General Hospital. About €2,000 was raised and with money already raised through a series of cake sales & other fundraising initiatives, work will begin shorly, some of it by the voluntary labour of the End of Life Committee, to make that part of the hospital a better place for bereaved families.

Freedom of Clonmel –

The President, Michael D Higgins will be bestowed with the Freedom of Clonmel on the afternoon of 1st June 2012.

Tullaghmeelan -

We wish Sybil Burgess well as she takes up residence in Acorn Lodge.

The Rector & Dr Butler joined a young man with a wonderful knowledge of and talent in repairing organs in Tullaghmeelan. We helped him remove some of the frame and, found parts essential to the health of the organ stored inside, viewed mouse damage and learned so much about the instrument.

This “simple” instrument is not what it seems! Hidden inside were the two “pedals” - one that controls the swell box and is essential to the wellbeing of that part of the organ and the other makes a selection of stops work at a push. Patrick restored them to their rightful place. He did some adjustments and when he returns during the next few weeks, we will truly have a very good instrument.
